Getting Started

Onboarding Your Organization

A short setup wizard helps Grantboost learn about you and your organization, so it can find better matches and write better drafts.

Getting started

After you sign up, you’ll land on a welcome screen that reads: “Welcome aboard! We’re thrilled to have you join us on this journey. To kick off your experience, we’ll start by gathering some details about your organization. This will help us customize our product specifically for your team.”

Click Continue to begin. The setup wizard has three steps you’ll walk through: User Info, Organization Info, and Upload Organization Documents (there’s also an optional Custom Info step at the end, described below).

You can move between steps using the Back button, and your progress is saved as you go — so if you leave and come back, your information is still there.

Step 1: Your personal info

On this step, you’ll tell Grantboost a bit about yourself:

  1. Enter Your Name.
  2. Choose your Title from the dropdown (for example, Grant Writer, Executive Director, Program Manager, and so on). This helps Grantboost understand your role and responsibilities.
  3. Click Save & Continue.

Step 2: Your organization’s info

Next, you’ll provide details about your organization so Grantboost can tailor grant matches and drafts to your work:

  1. Enter your Organization Name.
  2. Choose your Industry — the sector your organization operates in (for example, Education, Healthcare, Arts & Culture). This helps Grantboost curate more relevant recommendations.
  3. Enter a Mission Statement — a brief description of your nonprofit’s mission.
  4. Enter a Problem Statement — the problem your organization exists to address.
  5. Enter your Annual Budget.
  6. Enter your Annual Donations.
  7. Click Save & Continue.

You can update these details anytime later from your organization settings — that’s also where you can add your organization’s location and any locations you’d like excluded from grant searches.

Step 3: Upload organization documents

Uploading documents you already have (like annual reports, program descriptions, or past proposals) gives Grantboost more context to work with, which can improve both grant matching and AI-drafted content.

  1. Click Pick a file.
  2. Choose a file to upload. Supported file type is PDF, with a maximum size of 5MB.
  3. Repeat for any additional documents you’d like to add.
  4. Click Save & Continue to finish.

This step is optional — you can skip ahead and add documents later if you’d rather get started right away.

Optional: Custom Info

After the document upload step, you’ll see an optional Custom Info step where you can add extra details about yourself or your organization that don’t fit into the earlier fields. Anything you add here can also be used by the AI assistant when drafting content for you.

What happens next

Once you finish onboarding, you’re taken into the product to start using the Grant Matcher and AI assistant. If you’re on a paid plan, you may also see a welcome screen with links to the Knowledge Base, the Grantboost blog, and support resources, along with a Get Started button that takes you straight in.

Still stuck?

Our team is happy to help you get the most out of Grantboost.
